Who we are

The Safety Net is a collective of men who are working to stop Date Rape and Intimate abuse.

If the term “Intimate abuse” sounds like it makes no sense, remember that about 83% of all assaults are committed by a family member, friend or dating partner of the person who is attacked. This means that most of the time, when a person is raped, it’s trust that’s used as the weapon- the trust our girlfriends, friends, roommates, wives, family members have in us, the men in their lives.

We’ve decided that it’s time to reclaim that trust – reclaim that responsibility. Men Rape. Men abuse. And men can stop it. This site is about WHY and HOW we should stop it. It’s about why we started going to schools and parks and baseball fields and talking to other people just like us, just regular guys, about how men can start to win back the trust they have lost.

But Who we are? We are everybody. At first we were just a bunch of musicians and artists. We told ourselves that this wasn’t about changing the world, it was just about changing ourselves and being responsible for ourselves one person at a time. But then as more and more guys got involved we figured it out.

That’s how the world gets changed. One at a time.

See this?

There are more women who have suffered sexual assaults than there are women who wear glasses.
